Love Actually - Part 1: Knowing Fully

This last weekend we talked on "real love" and the difference between actual love and imaginary love. The two main points:
1. We imagine what love will be for us and what someone can give us placing our expectations on them even if we don't know them. The issue with this is we never let the person be who they are and the love we create is fake.
2. We need to start loving people by getting to know them by "listening patiently" and "sharing honestly." This is to better help us be real.
PHIL'S THOUGHTS: I find it too easy to be rapped up in emotion and operate only on what "feels good" and not really think things through. We are filled with so many questions about other people and what they think of us that we focus to much on ourselves. In doing this, we create relationships that are very thin and do not hold up in the long run. What ends up happening is we get hurt or hurt someone else. I think it is our responsibility to make a difference by really getting to know people and giving them the opportunity to be known. On top of that, it is even more important to let God fully see who we are and share our life with him.

Back at it!

Hey all! I don't know how many of you follow this but I am going to be back at it. I have been gone to Canada for a while and want to get back in the swing of running this blog. It will be my intention to do a quick recap on every lesson we do over the weekend at BLUR AM. I'd be interested to here your thoughts.

to those who still read this. Since I am going to Canada in two weeks I thought it would be funny to share a ridiculous video from my country.

Summer Small Groups

This summer we are doing small groups in homes on tuesdays and thursdays. Click on the picture to read about the books we will be studying. You can choose which study you go to.

The "Case for..." books will be on Tuesday nights and the other two books will be on Thursday night. Please note that the Thursday night studies are gender specific. Finally, it will cost $10 to join a study. This will cover your book. Look for registration packets at church.

Have you had your break today?

Every so often, it is not a bad thing to stop and think about the in's and out's of your day, week, year, or even life. Am I living to my fullest potential? Am I living to make a difference? Am I living for God? Am I living for myself? Am I living at all?
Contemplating who you are and what you're doing with your life can be a strong spiritual experience. Not to delve on what you are bad at, yet to decide where you stand and why. This allows the following steps to actually have a legitimate starting point.
"But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peace-loving, gentle, then compliant, full of mercy and good fruits, without favoritism and hypocrisy." James 3:17
So have you taken a break today? Perhaps has something He would like to show you.
